After two years of dating and endless speculation about the nature of their once-in-a-generation power couple love story, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced their engagement.

On Instagram Tuesday, the pop music icon and the NFL star confirmed that they are taking the next big step in their relationship.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned a carousel of photos of Kelce proposing to Swift — or recreating his proposal for social media purposes.

The two began dating in the summer of 2023 when Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, where he plays football for the Kansas City Chiefs, according to People. A few weeks after attending the concert, Kelce revealed that he actually tried — and failed — to meet Swift.

Kelce also admitted to being “a little butthurt” that he wasn’t able to execute his plan to deliver a personalized bracelet with his number to Swift. “I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he said on his “New Heights” with his brother Jason Kelce.

In September 2023, Swift and Kelce first sparked dating rumors when she made a surprise appearance at his Chiefs game watching from the tight end’s suite alongside his mother Donna. She also was captured cheering as Kelce scored a touchdown, and the two were seen walking out together after the game.

In August 2024, NFL insider Adam Schefter went viral for suggesting the pair were headed for the altar during a segment on “NFL Live,” Page Six reported. A few weeks earlier, an insider told Page Six that Kelce had a plan in place to get on bended knee and that an engagement was “happening soon.”

Now a year later comes news that the engagement is in fact “happening.” But as for a wedding? Maybe that will wait until after the 2025 NFL season.

This story is developing.
