Former FBI Director James Comey united the country this week … but not on purpose.
His viral video extolling Taylor Swift and attacking President Donald Trump drew snickers across the aisle. Even the cartoonishly Left Daily Beast dubbed the video “creepy.”

Among those slamming the video? The hosts of “The Adam and Dr. Drew Show.” The podcast played some of Comey’s video, wondering why a 64-year-old adult would do such a thing.
Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky think they solved the riddle.
“I couldn’t watch the whole thing. It was so cringey,” Dr. Pinsky said. “There were so many crazy elements in it. He had heavy makeup, bright lighting, a coat and tie on … (Democrats) are looking for spontaneity and authenticity in their messaging. This was so far from that.”
“Everyone is constantly campaigning for some sort of public image of themselves … I’m guessing Comey feels like he might be in a certain amount of jeopardy and he’s in a PR campaign,” Carolla said.
The Trump White House has been investigating the Russian collusion hoax and the Deep State operatives who helped make it happen. JustTheNews.com is reporting that there’s significant movement on that front. Given Comedy’s extensive FBI ties at the height of the Fake News cycle, he may need to lawyer up soon.

The comedian compared Comey’s video to how once beloved entertainers like Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres created a false image to paper over their true selves. O’Donnell was the unofficial Queen of Nice who doted on superstar Tom Cruise before coming out as a lesbian obsessed over politics.
DeGeneres’ famous dancing shtick belied her reported cruelty behind the scenes on her eponymous talk show.
Carolla and Dr. Pinsky segued to Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton. The powerful Democrats are known for their over-the-top cackles, something the duo said camouflages their true selves.
That led Carolla back to Comey.
“Who’s Comey? Why’s he talking about Taylor Swift? Because why would you wanna incarcerate a good guy like that … why is he making a produced video? He used to run the FBI,” Carella asked.
“Because he’s on a campaign, clearly on a campaign,” Dr. Pinsky said.
Later, Dr. Pinsky extolled Comey’s ability to lie in a convincing fashion.
“He’s an expert on lying, and one of the things about lies is people tend to have difficulty being very specific,” he said, adding how Comey’s praise of a 10-minute version of a Swift song shows his ability to solve that riddle. “That’s overly specific. That’s lying. It’s too specific to try to cover.”
“He’s basically launching a soft campaign so that when paperwork shows up and he gets hauled in front of Congress, the American people will go, ‘You wanna take this patriot who wrote a book called ‘Higher Calling,’ … and who loves Taylor Swift and you wanna lock him up for doing his job?’” Carolla said.
Dr. Pinsky predicted we’ll see more videos from Comey sooner than later, while Carolla summed up the matter regarding Russiagate.
“There was a Deep State, and these guys colluded to not get Trump elected or, when he was elected, to destroy his administration and his ability to lead,” Carolla said. “That’s what happened.”
