PALO ALTO – A 20-year-old Palo Alto man was arrested on suspicion of firing a BB gun at another man during a road-rage incident last week in Palo Alto, police said.

The incident happened around 6:40 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of San Antonio Road, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. The victim, identified as a man in his 30s, said the rear window of his vehicle was shattered during the incident.

An investigation revealed the victim had been driving southbound on Highway 101 when the suspect started following him and flashing his headlights, police said.

The victim exited the freeway and came to a stop at San Antonio and Middlefield roads. That’s where the suspect pulled up and told him to lower his window, police said.

The victim did not comply. He then heard a pop followed by the sound of his rear window shattering, police said.

The suspect was identified and arrested at his home, police said, adding that a BB gun was found inside his vehicle. He was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of discharging a firearm in a negligent manner and vandalism, both felonies.
