Notre Dame-San Jose basketball player Arabella Valbuena is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Dec. 8-13.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Valbuena finished with 56.4% of the votes. Cupertino basketball player Jessica Shaffer took second at 40.3%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Valbuena scored 20 points with five 3-pointers as Notre Dame beat Mountain View 45-42. She added 15 points and three 3s in a 46-43 win over Milpitas and 27 points with three more 3s, three assists, three steals and three rebounds as NDSJ beat Soledad 54-44.
